If you name these folders consistently for every creator who has the objects you want sorted out, you can now search your CC\Objects folder by keyword, such as “Kitchen Decor” and find every folder that has these objects in.
This all sounds HORRIBLE, but I promise, this step is SO helpful if you want to make this a process that you can sustain over time and not have to re-do everything the next time you add CC. Pre-sorting Collections: Each creator gets a folder for items that may fall into any of the following categories: “ Kitchen Decor” (I have separate categories for “ Fruit and Veg”, “ Table Settings”, and “ Misc Food”), “ Garden Decor” (by this I mean stuff that isn’t pretty plants in pots), “ Vanity”(Salon-type items, like a makeup kit or hair dryer), “Artist Workshop” (for paintbrushes, sculptor’s tools, etc.), “ blankets and pillows”, “ office decor” (such as books, files, paper and pens, wall calendars, etc.), “ Winter” (for the winter Season, for Christmas and Hannukkah decor, and skis), “ Autumn” (for Halloween and Thanksgiving decor). If I simply want to fix a classification problem, like removing a sculpture from Wall Decor, I usually just go ahead, open up the object in S3PE and fix it, and I don’t bother further sorting it out into categories.ģ. A favorite would be “ DIY bed” for beds and decor items that you can use to make a modular bed, such as a plain matress and headboard or baseboard. Another example of special sets would be “ Special Medieval”, “ Special Gypsy”, or “ Special Grant Park” for BauFive’s set. They go in a special folder that I call “ Special Train”. that are part of the Train Interior and Build set. The only exceptions to this are “special objects”, for example, for my CycloneSue folder, I take out all the windows, chairs, beds, etc.

So long as these objects are classified correctly, I don’t really care about sorting them and they just sit in my creator folders until I want to install them (I manually merge into packages). Regular Build Buy objects: All objects that fall into nice discrete categories, such as sinks, toilets, chairs, windows, etc, I simply put into a single folder named “ Regular Build Buy”. I consider any object classified as “Decor” a potential catalog disaster, and I try to separate them out ASAP, usually into a folder called “ To Sort” that I come back to later.Ģ. For each creator, I sort the objects into separate folders. Sort by Creator: Each creator gets a folder even if they have only one object. Pre-Sorting Objects into Named folders (Name them consistently and then you can use search functions to find the files you want later!)ġ. The rest of these tips pertain ONLY to sorting objects. I don’t like to get them mixed up with objects or CAS. In my Documents folder (not my EA\TS3\mods folder, mind! I am talking backup and pre-installation here) I sort all of my CC into separate folders for objects, CAS parts, and everything else. Please note: I use CCMagic to help create collections files, but I do not use it to install content into my game. Just make sure you are importing these OBJDs into a CCMagic set up that doesn’t already have these OBJDs installed, and remember to delete these packages before running a game off of that CCMagic set up (hence, a fresh folder is the easiest way to go).įor further discussion of this process and tips about sorting and reclassifying… You can include your extracted Base Game, Ep and SP objds for adding them to the collections as well. They can already be reclassified to hide your objects for use as an objects mod. The short story: All you need to create collection files in CCMagic is a single package file with all the OBJDs of the objects you want in that collections file all grouped together.
